The Unforgettable

A night full of joy and laughter filled the atmosphere. Putting aside the hiccups of preparation, two families were bought together in different culture and ways of celebration with gladness and weirdness. With abundance of blessings from family and friends, we felt so much love around us. With this, 20% of stress was deducted from out wedding planning!

Penang Dinner was on the 26th Sept 2009, the eight day of the eight month in the Chinese calendar. All the lovely hard work of preparation was done by my wonderful parents. “Surprises” is one word to describe the outcome.

Let’s begin with dinner dress. Dinner dress was bought by my mom… well, TK and I were speechless while looking at the black dress. The make up artist did not encourage us to wear the dress either and suggest me to wear the other dress. It was not about the colour but it is just the style! Thank God for the red dress from Sarah!

So make up? Well, we did not make appointment till the morning of the event! Awesome! Thank God, we can still book her for make up and hair-do session!

However, lodging and dinner was not a problem at all. My generous dad settles all the lodging and dinner fee in Penang! Awesome! What a blessing!

How was the dinner? We did not know 80% of the guest in the dinner. Therefore, we were just wall paper standing at the entrance and my mom does the hosting! LOL!

The marching in song was awesome! The classical wedding song was played and TK and I laugh our way into the restaurant.

There were no proper walk way…. Hence, we both went up walking separately to our seats… That’s funny too.

The MCEE conduct the dinner in mandarin; hence, I was lost 99% of the time in my dinner!

Eventhough it was a little random, the dinner and celebration was great! Aunties were very happy and it is great to see reconciliation of family members and friends. Many unexpected event happened not for a bad reason but for joy and love. Randomness becomes the unforgettable joyful moments of our wedding in Penang!

Last but not least, thanks to all the help from friends and family- Julian, Timothy and friend for helping us with the photography! Thanks to my sister for helping me side by side! Thanks to my aunties and uncles for support. Thanks to Desmond (godsis) for helping up during the “cham cha” and TK and my family for making this happened!

The joy and excitement ends with good lottery reward for my mom and desmond! HEHE!

lost and running

One more month to go and it is either make it or break it moment of life! Preparing and discussing can be though with two fairly egoistic heads. However, we would have to give in continually to move ahead with time. At the crucial moment of planning and finalizing, it can either be a victory or either a break for a couple. That is when you will see a true monster that screams. We have gone so far and victory is the only goal in our mind.

Through many arguments, misunderstanding, stubbornness and bad days, we probably have learnt so much of what are call compromise, respect and love. With a little guidelines, we spend pass few months running about like headless chicken. But none the less, with the little mountain we go through, we understand more about the procedure and wedding planning. So here are some tips on ROM.

ROM can be done by first get the marriage registration form from any Jabatan Pendaftaran. Fill in whatever is necessary and get your form to the commission of oath. After that;

1. 1. If both of you are from Selangor (IC address from Selangor), you can register your wedding directly from Putra Jaya or Plaza Masalam (the Beng Hock fall down place). They will take 3 weeks to process before the actual day of signing!

2. 2. If one from Selangor and one from other place like Perak, then you have two options... fast or slow!

- Opt1 Perak fella change the IC address to Selangor address (can be done 24hr from Putra Jaya, others will take 3 weeks). With similar address, it will take three weeks to process your registration form.

- Opt2 No need change IC. Fill in two marriage registration form. Submit to the Jabatan Pendaftaran Perkhawinan. They will take 4 weeks to process your form because they need to send back to Perak. If they lost your form somewhere then you have to wait again..hahahha!

Be sure to do the whole procedure two months ahead before your wedding date before you start running around like us! ROM for normal way will cost us only RM30. The express way which will only take 7days to process will cost you RM120. It you go through Association, then it will depend how much they will charge.

The thing is that we were so lost till we almost missed out our ROM. We almost did not manage to submit the form in time and might probable have to sign ROM after our wedding. But thank God, He provides us many alternative and blessing! We manage to get aunty May and she was able to arrange a wonderful date for us!

With the long Merdeka weekend, we manage to spend our time planning for the songs to play in our wedding. I love music! HAHA! With so little we have, there are so much more to come!

3 more months to go!

To be very honest, we are a little behind time, but then we are still on track! Finally, we are done with our decoration ideas and from there we are able to come out with a theme for the morning church wedding. One the deco is approved according to our budget then we are a step closer to our dream wedding! I will probably write more on deco on the up coming post.

So much of the deco, the next item to check it our wedding bomb! THE CARD! I like to personalized my stuff and I like to do something different...sometimes out of the box. But hey, it is our wedding! Nothing is better than we flourish the fairytale with our own ideas! But due to our technical side, we are more of idea giver, so thanks to Jarance our creative designer who brought our idea to past beautifully! With much discussion and brain storming, finally, our card is ready for printing! Looking forward to see the actual result of the printing!

I am sure some of you have seen the teaser photo on theenkins facebook, we are greatful to see all the warm wishes and comments posted up so quickly! Most of the photos are still in proses (editing) . We just went to finalize our pick and discuss on our album decoration. It is just so beautiful. I think the photographer did a very good job! We are looking forward to get our album and softcopy by mid of August then we can proceed on our own picture slide show!

Time is flying really fast, hopefully i can be discipline on my food intake and have a regular excercise to keep myself in shape. And for theen kin... He will eat more and build more muscle! ~_~

Seven Approaches to Getting out of a Rut in Your Marriage

Seven Approaches to Getting out of a Rut in Your Marriage

So what do you do when the freeway comes to a dead stop or your marriage feels like it is on a dead end street? A road map with some alternate routes or a GPS device help on the freeway. The way to get out of a rut is to reconnect with one another.
  • A Weekend Away. Take a weekend away to a quiet place with no kids, no TV, no Internet, no chores, and no work from the office to distract you from one another. Make this a time just for the two of you. Use this time to talk with one another. Talk about good memories, of future dreams, of current concerns and fears.
  • A Weekly Date. If finances are tight or you can't be away from your children for an entire weekend, find a way to spend time alone with each other each week. Saying you will have monthly dates isn't good enough when your marriage is in a rut. You need more time than that to reconnect with one another.
  • A Peaceful Room. Look at your home environment. If you don't have any rooms in your house that are uncluttered and inviting, then create such a space. Decide together to make at least one room in your home free of clutter. If you can't get a room uncluttered in a weekend together, spend 15 minutes each day working on the room. You both need a space that enables you to feel relaxed and calm. Such an environment can actually make you feel good about yourselves and your marriage.
  • Write a Letter. When talking about sensitive issues in your marriage, express yourself without showing hostility. Do not blame your spouse. Keep sarcasm out of the conversation. Examine your own attitudes about the issue to see if you are contributing to the problem in your marriage. If this is difficult for you to do, write down your thoughts and feelings about one issue, wait a day or so, then re-read what you wrote before giving the letter to your spouse.
  • Make Plans for Your Future Together. Ask yourselves if you are living the way you want to live. If not, do some brainstorming about strategies to get yourselves to where you want to be -- emotionally, financially, physically, etc. Make specific plans for achieving a goal the two of you have set.
  • Spend Ten Minutes Together Daily. Develop a routine of spending ten minutes alone together each day. Make this a time to reconnect. It is not the time to share frustrations or to want to solve problems. This ten minutes has to be a positive ten minutes together. You could spend ten minutes talking about your expectations of the day, or talk about good things that happened to you in the past 24 hours. You could take a ten-minute walk together or do breathing exercises together. What you do with that ten minutes shouldn't be the same every day. Some couples sitting together quietly and watching the sun set or looking at stars.
  • Do Something New. Do something new each day. Take a different route home. Eat a vegetable cooked in a different way. Watch a television show or movie you haven't seen. Discover something new about your spouse. Move a piece of furniture. Plant a flower seeds you never planted before. Walk on a different street or path. Play a new card or board game. Learn how to together. It doesn't matter what you do that is new. What is important is sharing what you did that was new with your spouse.

Creativity Arise

Beside the creativity to manage our cash flow during this season, we are starting to venture into into new stuff.

Lets start with designing of invitation cards. Well, I just send a rough idea to our designer and tah dha! He transform it into a butterfly! Can't wait till the card is finalize!

We are so done with out photoshoot and I thought it was so the end of my diet. But nope! I stil have to keep in shape! Second one will be coming up next week! Owh Wow... looks like theen kin is getting into photography! Hopefully by then we are able to choose nice pictures to design our card!

So what about house? We get pretty distracted while doing both at the same time and also restricted due to the crazy cash flow. Thanks to my parents, they truely bless us with so many great quality kitchen wear and not to forget theen kins family's contributions and support throughout the house renovation! While we are saving to furnish our room to be and dining area, we get our hand dirty with something not so expensive... planting! We are now trying to beautify our garden with green plants. After much effort, we have 4 mini papaya tree (thanks to theen kin), we killed 3 pandan leaves and now trying to make our 4th pandan leave and our mosquitoe plant alive! Argh...gardening...

It is May now.. we have 5 more months left!

Selecting Photos!

It is really fun to dress up nicely and make up nicely for a day. It is even better when it is captured by camera. It is the best when you are in it together! Everything was awesome and I would truely admid that this have brought us closer to one another.

After almost a week of waiting after the photoshoot, we finally get a view of our pictures last night! After all the fun and flash, it is time to strengthen our heart! We took about 200 pictures in total and we can only choose 50 pictures out of the 200! We can easily discard 50 and keep 150 but it is extreamly hard to discard 150 and keep 50! TheenKin and I together with my friend when to see and choose. The photos are amazing. It snap shots were very natural and lifely. The angle and quality is simply amazing! The photographer is really creative. One word- unbelievable! If I own a bank, I will definitely buy all the pics! They are all just so beautiful! Guess what! I own a bank.... a bank account (less than rm1000)! After much heart ache, heart attack, head ache, asthma and flu with some tears, we manage to discard more and left around 69 pictures now. We like them but our wallet don't want to compromise! So now, we are discussing whether so spend a little more to keep all the remaining 69 or continue to cut down to 50... We have 18 pictures to keep/cut..(to keep 1 picture = RM30). I can't think!

Pre-Wedding photo shoot

One word to describe our pre-wedding photo shoot.... 'FUN'!

We reached Posh Bridal about 9am and started off with make-up. The make-up artists were very professional in carrying their task.
Of course, during my wife-to-be make-up session, i can't resist to take some of her photo... to show the before and after effect.

This is some of the snapshot when we were on the way to Subang Airport... U may be wondering why are we going to airport. Dont worry, we are not taking any flight to any place for romantic dinner/lunch. we were actually taking some shot at the Subang Flying Club... (Yee Lin and I love aircrafts) Thank God for the good weather and we managed to settle in 1 hr time...

Then we proceed to the outdoor shoot... We played with bubbles and had fun posing.

Previously, I had alot of bad impression about wedding photo shoot due to experiences of my friends... after this photo shoot, i can say that we should just be relaxed and treat this as a fun moment of our lives. If we are relax, we tend to smile easily and this will definitely be a memorable life time moment.

A fruitful discussion!

Card design is never easy when you have a tight budget. To opt for the traditional red card with pink envelope might be the cheapest alternative but then it is surely not our ultimate choice. We love fun and simple and yet classy. So, how to match the creative side with our pockets? Argh. We went about to survey for the type of cards we want and get quotes from them. However, it did not comes out right. We love it but our wallet don’t like it! So we decided to team up with Jarance to design and discuss for something we like and our wallet like it too! Last Sunday, we had a fruitful discussion in McDonalds! So, we somehow joke about taking picture of us eating a burger together like Lady and Tramp! Well, good idea...still thinking! But then we came out with great designs and ideas (truely thanks to Jarances creativity that builds up all the ideas!) and now he will be getting the quotes for us. It will be awesome! God will make it possible in one package!

The Wedding Team!

So, after much planning and discussing with one another, we have finally finalized our wedding team! We will be appointing them officially really soon once we have settled the appointment card... hehe.

Preparation before photo shoot

When you have not been buying new shoes for months, this is the time where headache and stress comes in. Since last year, I have not been buying any new shoes... Let me see... my last pair of new shoe was May last year. Long huh!
Last weekend, we spend money like a millionaire! So much to buy and so little strength! Due to our busy schedule, we are only able to shop during weekends! And sometimes... don’t even have time. So last week, we make full use of our weekend by going shopping, get our hair done, run my part time job, cleaning the house and car and also dinner with Theenkin’s family! Yay!
We shopped like as if we just came back from a jungle! We went to all kinds of shop just to get something nice regardless of brands and price before considering it. So, Chales and Keith... I could not get anything there! Expensive stuff may not suite sometimes... HEHE! However it was my fastest record to get a pair of shoes at an awesome deal of price (below rm50!). But then, it seems like the longest time for Theenkin to get his shoe! Well, after two days of shopping, he only able to get his shirt. Time is running out! This Thursday will be our photo taking day! Hopefully he can get his today!
Owh not to forget our wedding band! We will be getting it this week! Hope to take more pictures and post it up!

The Band!

We were suppose to go back to the shop to get our wedding band on Sunday, but due to my fever we did not manage too. So, we postponed it to yesterday. After work, we drove down to Pyramid to get our wedding band before photoshoot.

Places we went for ring survey:
Habib Jewel
My Diamond (a branch of Tomei)
Love & co (a brance of Suki...if i spelled it correctly)
Diamond and platinum
SK
Wah Chan

Theen Kin also went about to survey for rings while he was on his training trip to Singapore.

After much survey, Theen Kin found that wedding bands in Singapore are much cheaper than Malaysia when they had sales. He can practically find bands below RM1000 a pair from a pretty good brand (where the branch here are selling for RM2000++++++++).

Research :
There are few types of material - 9k white gold(lowest grade) - 18K white gold (medium grade but most recommended) - 24k white gold (which is know as platinum)

If you are searching for something really sophisticated and yet simple, go for love and Co or SK if you have the cash. They cost about RM2500 and above. They do have comfort fit range where they ring fits comfortably on your hand.
If you are going for budget style, Poh Kong will be just nice. We did not manage to go PYT in SS2 but then they have a 80% sale right now.
Habib did not have a wide range of choices but the price are still ok. I think they are having sales this month too...
My diamond... We could not find anything nice there... but then they have larger range of choice compare to Habib.
So Wah Chan, Wah Chan wedding band is on net price... so there is no discount. However, they are having 70% discount for diamond rings! So THOSE WHO WANTS TO PROPOSE! This is the best time to get the ring! For less than a thaosand...I think RM800++ you can get a nice diamond ring already! GO!

After, all the comparing and thinking, Theen Kin fell in love with Wah Chan. So we went back Wah Chan to get our band. So, we did not get the matching band (net price) on displayed because we could not find something that fit us nicely. When a ring fit me nicely, the male ring is too feminine for Theen Kin. When the ring fits Him nicely...it is so not right for me. But the due to our tight budget, we some how manage to choose something fit me ok and not too fiminine for him... But then the story went upside down when Theen Kin surprise me with second option... He decided to get the band type of diamond ring and a more musculine ring for himself. So he is the man with cash ( i mean he is paying), words could not come out of me besides saying 'U know it is very expensive.. i think i like that normal ones ok.' I was stunt... Some different side of him totally! Serious..totally! All pass through my mind for a moment is like...are u serious...this is like mad! The ring is really beautiful and the width fitted nicely on me. I think my fever just went away but my sorethroat was there to keep me from screaming! Ah well, Yes! We get the nice ring we both happy with. And due to a money type of guy..we got our band for less than RM2000....hehehe U can say less than RM1600 also.. Haha.. We have to tighten our honeymoon now! One reason Theen Kin gave me on this..."we must as well buy someting we like rather than something we don't really like.. because this is our wedding ring.." Owh.... tear tear...

The Dotty Story

Dotty, is our beloved puppy. She was given by TheenKins' friend on the 12th Feb 2009. She spent a beautiful valentine's day with us on the 14th. She was so cute and so lovely that she make us so hard to give away eventhough she was quite a trouble maker at home. She will bite wat ever she finds on the floor, and pee on what ever carpet/ mat which she came across. However, after much training with her favourite milk cookie, she is much more discipline right now. She is a great companion to me at home.

Initially, we plan to bring her along for our prewedding photoshoot. However, about two weeks ago, she disappeared from our house. My neighbour last saw her around 5.30 pm when she was out for her routine pee pee trip. When I came bak around 8pm she was not there anymore. We went around to find her, she was no where to be found. We waited for a week and she did not come back. Sigh... she will not be in our picture anymore... It is ok... just pray that she will be alright no matter where she is right now...

Time flies really fast when your schedule is line up with activities after activities! Yeah! We almost forget how close we are towards our wedding date! 167 days to go! Yay!

This is the time where we finally put our house deco a side for a moment (which is alot more to be done! WE NEED AIR CON!!) and get focus on out wedding planning. Last two weeks was florist shopping week and card survey week. Well, there were a little ideas here and there but then we have not finalize it yet! Last week was out ring shopping week and not to forget! It is our gown picking week! Well, we were a little dissappointed by the choices given initially. We could not find what we really want... so we need to browse through many times jz to get out with some " ok" choice of dress. After all the fitting and head scratching, we finalize our 2 bridal gown and 3 evening gown for photoshoot! Awesome! Nothing but just sexy...outch! I need to lose weight in 10 days! After all the headache moment, we were pretty satisfied by our choices! They fitted nicely on me..AHA! I am made to be sexy! LOL! NOt to forget about the ring... I think we have finally finalize our wedding band choice! Wah Chan! Here we come!!!! Haha! Should we get normal o diamond?? Hmmm... Diamond are girls best friend and that will make girls to be robbers best prey! LOL! After all the crazy saturday, I was badly sick on Saturday night and Sunday and now...sobbie!!!!!
